Elizabeth Warren on the Economy
What exactly is going on with the economy? Stocks are up and big bonuses are back, but while they're throwing parties on Wall Street, there's pain on Main Street. One out of every six workers is unemployed or underemployed according to government statistics - the highest figure since the Great Depression.
I just caught this on NOW on PBS- some answers from Harvard professor Elizabeth Warren, who's been heading up the congressional panel overseeing how the bailout money is being spent.
If this doesn't get your attention I don't know what will. With regard to your money, it all starts right here- pay attention, attend local meetings, pick up a pen or pick up the phone. Be heard- you can be sure the lobbyists are...you can also be sure they aren't lobbying for you.
It's starting to appear that truer words have never been spoken-
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issuance of their currencies, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all their prosperity until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."
