The Short Memories and Many Faces of Woodstock Republicans

What could they be so scared of that they would shed their integrity to protect the status-quo?

A scant two years ago Wayne Durst (a prominent Woodstock Republican) and I stood shoulder to shoulder on the editorial pages of the Villager informing the public of the danger of the “Breen Party” and its minions. See the editorials -HERE-.

Fast forward to the present…

Mr. Durst now finds it necessary to stand with those minions and posts on the blog that was the tool of Mr. Breen (as well as in the Villager) that inappropriately attacked him, his wife, and his party along with a host of others. It appears that fear of the truth is more powerful than personal conviction.

He and the Republicans have now adopted the remnants of the Breen Party- the Leavitt’s, along with Kevin Ford, who made it to the BOE as the lesser of two evils over John Leavitt by a few votes. Meanwhile his own Republican candidates, Steve Rosendahl and Brian Musumeci, were elected with a mandate of over 1000 votes each and continue to battle the personal agendas and the influence of Breen and his followers that preclude the proper administration of the public’s business and the proper education of our children.

Driving around town most people should be confused. As Mr. Durst pointed out in his October 2007 editorial, the sign displays in the yards of members of both parties reveals and confirms the fracturing of both parties in Woodstock as described in this article. As I have written previously, it is clear that this has become an ideological class war to protect the status-quo and club memberships and has nothing whatsoever to do with the proper administration of Woodstock’s public business.

Don’t be fooled. Numbers don’t lie, politicians do.

We the people of Woodstock are tired of the same old, same old. We are tired of the Café chaos and its band of hateful marauders.

It is time for a change.  Just because we have turned into a flock of sheep doesn’t mean we have all lost our fight. We have no choice but to accept the Town Hall gang re-elected but we don’t have to let them think we like it. When you go to the polls leave the incumbents blank or write in. Vote only for the candidates of your choice. This is the only way we can let them know we are dissatisfied because a mark on the ballet counts as a vote of approval for that candidate.

Dave Richardson and Craig Powers are trying to change things for the better and deserve your support. They want only to see that education money is spent on education, and the intent of the law is upheld.

Remember the BOE controls 78% or so of your tax dollars, the BOS controls the rest. Would you have deceivers and extravagant spenders continue in control? Every vote is important. This is the time for the people to tell Town government  to “Stop wasting our time and money”.  Let's take our town back. Vote for somebody who will look out for your interests. Without resistance we lose more than just tax dollars.
