Dave Richardson Announces Candidacy for Board of Finance

After several years following Woodstock finances and the Woodstock Board of Finance through several budgeting cycles I have decided to run for a seat on the Board of Finance as an independent candidate.

While I have had some success in nudging spending back toward more reasonable levels by raising numerous questions regarding the processes and accounting practices used to determine budgets and on spending for specific issues/items as a concerned citizen, I believe at this time I may be able to do more good from the inside than from the outside. Many years of managing a multi-million dollar global business as a vice president and division manager at Rogers Corporation and later as Vice President of Business Development, doing mergers and acquisitions, has given me a great deal of experience in managing budgeting and in understanding finance and accounting matters; the background needed to ask the right questions and to understand the answers. Also, as a chemical engineer, University of Connecticut School of Engineering, with a number of years of experience in engineering, including managing manufacturing engineering and plant maintenance operations, I have the background to understand and ask more specific questions on some of the larger projects and expenditures the town will face in the future.

Though at times I have been somewhat at odds with the Board of Finance regarding the calculation of spending limits, my relationship with key members is both cordial and constructive, in fact, my candidacy is at least in part a result of the urging of several sitting members of the current board.

I hope to use my knowledge and experience and interest in the future of Woodstock to better represent the taxpayers and the long-term interest of the town, and in some small way help to make up for the loss of Russ Dowd who has decided not to run again this year after multiple terms on the board.

I look forward to the opportunity to serve if elected.

Well no surprise the proper gander hate crusade has begun over Leveitts Communist Café. They are so afraid of the Truth and having qualified people assist in correcting and assisting in running an efficient form of Govenorment in Woodstock.
They of all people should cast a stone! Rebbecca is costing this town a fortune in legal fees and is proving once again crime does pay in Woodstock. I can’t believe there are people so gullible in Woodstock that they believe what they read on the Café doom web site

Vote for Truth, Honesty, Integrity, and put qualified people in charge of your tax dollars. To quote President Obama “We Need change” in our State and our Town, don’t be dominated by deceivers. Read both sides and make logical decisions based on truth not proper gander or popularity.
