There seems to be an effort to make the citizens believe there are only 29 people who are dissatisfied with the BOE. Remind them that there are many, many more who didn't have the opportunity to sign the document but will most certainly let our displeasure known with our votes.

Thanks Steve. There were actually 38 signatures on the original petition and the Selectmen waived the need for the 200+...lot's of misinformation out there, thanks for pointing that out.

Please - from now on, Prove It.

Is it an Opinion, a Claim or a Fact that there is “lots of misinformation out there”? I’m asking straight up for a comprehensive explanation that can clear up such misinformation – no reason to dodge this (unless there is not “lots of misinformation out there”). Both sides have used and misused information, have mischaracterized matters with bias (like the ‘no confidence letter’ issue) and have made assertions that are mere Opinions, but are stated as though an unassailable Fact.

Please don’t dodge this question or attempt a misdirect or make personal comments in an attempt to deflect attention – I don’t matter here; the question I have posed does matter. If there is lots of misinformation as you have repeated, then it should be easy for you to lay it all out for us; if that statement was hyperbole, then let’s find out about that – Y’all seem accustomed to making broad assertions like this and facing NO challenge or calls for ‘Prove It!’ - those days are behind us. Please be prepared to prove, back up and fully support your assertions from now on…

      Hmmmm. Where to begin?

First, it's all been laid out here and on the Coalition site for some years now and I'm not going to spoon feed you, I trust that you can read and view video. Secondly, I haven't 'repeated' it and it is the simple fact of the matter. If you care to do your homework, we've been 'proving it' for years. Thanks.

When I read your statement about misinformation I thought you meant specifically with regard to this measure, the Petition, etc. (so that it would all be recent).

I don't see a lot of misinformation out there regarding the Petition and the measure - I see a lot of people with questions that have not been answered. Many valid questions have been dodged.

Is there a lot of misinformation out there with regard to the Petition and the measure? If so, could you describe it as best you can and set the record straight? You may have made certain assumptions about me and my beliefs (if so, they're likely inaccurate), but certainly there are many readers who think for themselves and may benefit by this.

I do acknowledge that my in my previous comment I went too far and am guilty of the employing the same Sophistry of which I've accused Petitioners and their supporters. We are both capable of discourse superior to our most recent exchanges (most especially with regard to personal comments and sarcasm). Thanks.

Agreed Con and I appreciate your change of tone, thank you.

Regarding the measure, the petition requirements, etc.- In order for anyone to file a petition on any matter, they would need to consult the General Statutes (or Town Charter if we had one)and create the 'question' and proposed ordinance on their own or in consultation with an attorney to be sure that it is valid, the language is correct, etc.- In this case, I did the research and wrote them myself. A valid petition requires 20 signatures to be brought to Town Meeting, we gathered 38 in about an hour not 29, and we presented these to the Town Clerk. It is her duty to verify the signatures and send it up to the Selectmen. We were prepared, in fact, over prepared to produce the required 200 signatures (and more) to force the measure to referendum and wouldn't have had it any other way.

After vaildation from the Town Attorney, the Selectmen, of their own accord, pursuant to Sec. 7-7 of the General Statutes, negated the need for us to produce the 200+ signatures by a vote of 3-0, and then set the date for the referendum vote.

On another note, I am greatly disappointed that the best the opposition can seem to come up with is repeated lies, parsing words and personal attacks, rather than to face the record they have created for themselves. It is beneath them and I believe that we should expect better than this of our elected officials and their supporters.
