A Look at WBOE Transportation

As we have seen, our bus maintenance costs have risen ~27% per year over the last four years.
 
During discussions around the Citizen Audit Committee initiative, Mr. Shultz expressed interest in looking at the bus/transportation system. As the “CAC” plans are still in the works, he decided to dig in on his own without waiting for the subcommittee...

-HERE- you will find correspondence to and from Frank Baran and the resulting letter to Mr. Hosmer and the BOF, as well as the bus roster. As a result of the letter, Mr. Hosmer, in the last BOF meeting directed the Superintendent to respond to Mr. Shultz with a copy to the BOF which has yet to be seen.

-HERE- you will find pictures reflecting some of the concerns raised.  Mr. Shultz also learned that the mileage warranty on the Detroit Diesel engines is 150-500K depending on the model, this gives you some idea of the potential lifespan of these vehicles as opposed to the average automobile.
