Truth Goes National
When I started this blog I really didn’t know what to expect. The reason I started it was my complete exasperation with what passes for politics around here and to try to expose what really goes on behind the curtain so that citizens could be armed with real information and take appropriate action with their elected officials. A lot of the information was gleaned as part of being involved in the Coalition effort in opposition to the 9th grade proposal which led me to build the Coalition website which really became a repository of documents and video.
The first entry in this blog was on January 9, 2008. Since then it has been an interesting ride with its ups and downs. There have been times when I wondered why I bother. On the other hand, I have received a ton of email and communication encouraging me to continue. Either way, it has and continues to be fulfilling in that it feels like the right thing to do.
I have never felt it necessary to tout traffic numbers or the like, but I will tell you that currently the survey results at the end of each article in the aggregate are 93.6% positive. So I guess I’m doing something right.
Over the last month or so, Truth has been picked up nationally by Reuters and the Chicago Sun Times and has been viewed hundreds of times through these outlets.
On November 3rd I was contacted by a producer of a website called purplestates.tv. From their website: Purple States was created and is managed by Dr. Cynthia Farrar. Dr. Farrar is nationally-recognized for her work in orchestrating non-partisan conversations among randomly-invited citizens. Building on this experience, which includes extensive work with MacNeil/Lehrer Productions and local public television, she devised the Purple States synthesis of old media with the connectivity of the internet to give a broad audience access to people-powered, watchable, engaging news coverage.
The website currently features a series called 50/50: fifty bloggers from fifty states in fifty days, in edited video-blogs that tell a cross country story about the economy. I was chosen through Truth to represent Connecticut. They asked me to provide some raw video of me answering some questions posed by them and some scenes of Woodstock. They will then take the video clips and edit them together and broadcast the piece on the website which will also be picked up by the New York Times and the Washington Post websites. I was advised yesterday that the segments will also potentially appear on CNN.com and iReport.com. On Saturday I spent a couple of hours pulling this together.
They also discussed with me the possibility of participating in their next project which will begin in January 2009 where a new team will go to Washington with the new President and the new Congress, to cover the first hundred days of the new administration for major news platforms, both domestic and international.
As I said, I had no idea what to expect when I started this blog and I certainly didn’t expect anything like this.
The 50/50 project segments are going up in alpha order of the states and began on November 5th.
Although I have no idea what the final edit will look like, my segment will go up on Thursday November 13th at www.purplestates.tv -part of the premise will then be other participants conversing around the segments.
It continues to be a fun, fulfilling ride and it will be interesting to see where else it leads…as much enjoyment as I have had with this, perhaps a new career?
Update: Here's the final edit from www.purplestates.tv- it's turning into a great discussion over there and I think there are things to be learned from the other participants. A new one goes up everyday Monday - Friday. See the Press Release -HERE- (PDF)

Congratulations,at last someone excepted and rewarded for telling the truth. Will this be a sign of the future for man kind ? Only time will tell ? Will Woodstock ever change for the people, by the people without favoritism and partiality ? Only the Good Lord and time will tell the outcome of that question as well . Optimistic or a fool ???? Good Luck.
Wishing you all the success in the world, thank you for all the time ,effort and expense..Maggie
