You can give someone the opportunity to do something, but you cannot force them to do it if they do not want to.........

Selectmen get 4% raise, BOE get $6,308.155, People, children get 0%.
Did they thank you for filling there oil tanks, refrigerators, paying the bills, buying there children designer cloths, going on vacations? You also filled there gas tanks! Now live with it!

Thank you to all the people who worked so hard to educate the voters...

    Maggie,

I'm not understanding you. Were you expecting a tax rebate?? Clearly a message was sent that the town wants conservative growth. This is understandable given the current economic climate. However, you are in the minority if you think people would want complete retraction of services and a tax rebate. You see in return for our taxes, we DO get something. Schools, roads, fire protection, administrative support for town functions, ect. In fact, if you are a parent or child, you are getting a pretty darn good deal on your tax dollars. The aproximate cost to educate a child is between $8000-$9000. Not many families with one or two kids are paying near that much in taxes. If you have a problem with how the budget was allocated, if you have a problem with the high cost of public education, if you worry about how retirees can fare with inflation and ever creeping taxes, then I am interested in hearing your point of view. However, if you are a greedy anarchic extremist masking your motives in the words of religion then you are no better than al-qaeda.

Once again less than 30% turn out to vote on the budget. I figure even with folks away on vacation that leaves us with more than half the voters in this town not voting. Not Voting! Don't seem to care one way or the other about the budget or their taxes!

That is truly pitiful and just another reason for all the problems we face in demanding transparency from our town government.

Just sign me saddened and tired.

    Noreen,

It has always been a small percent of people who sway history. Only about 20% of the early American colonists wanted to secede from England. Don't tire. We need people like you.

Maybe your not thirsty because you have already had to much to drink.

Nobody is against education just greedy professionals taking to much money in the name of Good, using children for an excuse. Who are you to judge and point a finger because others don't agree. Maybe you are on the wrong website? You should go after the State they are robbing us all.
